Du'a for Travel

When to say it: When setting off on a journey, once seated in the vehicle

Arabic

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ، وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ

Transliteration

Subḥānal-ladhī sakhkhara lanā hādhā wa mā kunnā lahū muqrinīn, wa innā ilā rabbinā lamunqalibūn.

Meaning

Glory be to the One who has subjected this to us, for we could never have done it ourselves, and to our Lord we will surely return.

About this du'a

Ibn ʿUmar (RA) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said Allāhu akbar three times when mounting for travel, then this du'a. Every car, train or plane becomes a reminder of Allah's favour and of the last journey.
