About this du'a
The Prophet ﷺ taught his companions to begin the day with these words of reliance. In the evening the order is reversed: "bika amsaynā, wa bika aṣbaḥnā ... wa ilayka al-maṣīr" (and to You is the final return). It frames the whole day as lived through Allah and returning to Him.
